The History of Hall Financial Group

Hall Financial Group has grown over the past 40 years from a single boarding house into a diversified investment company.

Hall Financial Group has consistently reinvented itself to move with and stay one step ahead of the times, while simultaneously staying true to Craig Hall’s entrepreneurial spirit and his counter-cyclical investment style.

In the late 1960s, Hall was forming limited partnerships for real estate investment long before these types of partnerships were typical. His focus on purchasing and turning around distressed properties contributed to the development of unique industry expertise. In fact, the Company was sought out to be a third-party manager because of its recognized experience dealing with distressed properties.

In the early 1970s, the Company was one of the first to incorporate significant tax advantages into real estate partnerships; and in response to legal changes that opened up new opportunities, Hall founded one of the first for-profit HMOs in the country and one of the first stock savings and loans.

In the mid 1980s, the Company was among the most creative and proactive in the industry in dealing with the severe real estate market downturn. Win-win solutions were forged with lenders and partners. In conjunction with this process, Hall was one of the very first to create preferred partnership offerings. Hall Financial successfully renegotiated $1 billion in real estate loans before most in the industry even acknowledged the depth of the problem.

The Company further diversified its core business activities in the early 1990s to include real estate development, venture capital, technology investments and international investments in Europe.

Currently, the Company is expanding its vineyard and winery business as well as its mezzanine debt and equity investment activities while maintaining a leadership position in all core business endeavors. Hall Office Park, the company’s signature progressive real estate development, is setting new business community standards. With its 165 piece international art collection, the multi-million dollar Texas Sculpture Garden (open to the public), advanced business services and tenant-focused amenities, the development is a complete demonstration and physical expression of Hall’s forward-thinking vision and innovative spirit.
