Dedication to Green Design and Sustainability
Hall Financial Group is strongly dedicated to minimizing our impact on the environment and to preserving our world for future generations. We view our commitment as a dynamic process, continually evolving as more ways are found to reduce our impact on the environment.
To achieve our goals we hired a sustainability consultant to do a green audit and tell us what more we can do. There are some exciting changes growing. Below is a brief description of the programs we are working on:
- Green building program: All new office buildings are planned to be LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified.
- Energy efficiency program: We already removed over 7,000 unnecessary lights and are reviewing the options to upgrade the existing lights to more energy efficient lighting. The energy consumption of heating and cooling equipment will be reviewed next.
- Recycling program: Hall Office Park uses a single stream recycling service. In 2007 we collected approximately 159 tons of recyclable material at the Park (that is approximately 65 lbs per year per person). This resulted in saving more than 2,700 trees; 60,000 gallons of oil; one million gallons of water; 650,000 kilowatt hours of electricity; and more than 500 cubic yards of landfill space.
- Green cleaning program: We use recycled paper products and we are implementing a new program for all cleaning that will include environmentally friendly biodegradable products.
- Green landscaping program: Rain and/or well water is recycled through the ponds and used as a significant source of irrigation. This reduces our water consumption. Currently we are moving to more environmentally friendly landscaping by emphasizing the use of more native plants, organic fertilizers and composting.
